Quality Education
A good education is the foundation for opportunity and access throughout life and quality public schools and teachers are among our community’s greatest assets. We’ve made incredible progress in strengthening public education in Anne Arundel, but big challenges lie ahead that will require us to close funding gaps, manage changing demographics, and support access and equity. We may have to navigate some difficult decisions in the coming years but as we work through priorities, my goal will always be to put people first so that our students, families and teachers can learn, grow and thrive together.
Affordability & Access
We all want to live in a county where working families can afford to live and build a future, and where our children can do the same.That will require us to think creativity and invest strategically in affordable housing, local services, and smart, sustainable growth that benefits people, helps to revitalize local neighborhoods, and creates opportunity and access for all.
Resilience & Environmental Protection
Protecting the environment is essential if we are to mitigate the impacts of climate change, conserve biodiversity, and ensure a healthy sustainable future for our community. It will require ongoing and significant investment in flood prevention and disaster preparedness; preserving and expanding green spaces; smart, sustainable development and clean energy programs that can build and support a thriving local economy while progressing our climate goals.
Service & Accountability
As Mayor of Annapolis I oversaw budget reforms that prioritized essential services and introduced innovative financing approaches to minimize the burden on taxpayers while delivering tangible results — including unprecedented infrastructure investment. At the County I will be working to strengthen collaboration with city, state, and federal partners to leverage similar kinds of investment. I’ll also be working to maintain an open door and strong communication with residents to ensure taxpayer dollars are invested in alignment with community priorities.
